Position: Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Reykjavik University.

Research interests: My main research field is Natural Language Processing (NLP). I have published (see Google Scholar) methods and tools for morphological analysis, part-of-speech tagging, named entity recognition, parsing, machine translation, corpus construction, intelligent computer-assisted language learning, question-answering, and clinical NLP.

I have also published research in the field of Computer Science Education, in particular about teaching programming.

Education: I completed a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the University of Iceland in 1989 and an M.Sc. in Computer Science and Operations Research from Pennsylvania State University, USA, in 1992. I joined Reykjavik University in 2000 after having spent about 8 years working for trading firms and investment banks in the USA, England and Iceland. In 2007, I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science (NLP) from the University of Sheffield, England.

In the period September 2013 - February 2018, I also worked at the software development company Kolibri.

I am a co-founder of the company Careflux.
